SHIP Inn Arts tell the ‘newburytoday artsdesk they were “delighted to host 30 drama and singing students, from Newbury Razzamataz, aged from five up to 15, who recently performed a wonderful showcase of their amazing talents” at The Ship Inn, Ashford Hill.
“Their songs ranged from popular pop songs, sung as confident solos and by small groups of students, with actions to the songs, to a wonderful version of My Way, sung beautifully by Dan.
“Well done to the all the students involved: Anita, Alanna, Edie, Iris, Asha, Luci, Chloe, George M, Sarah C, Alfie, Emily, Henry, Lauren, Matilda, Edith, Jessica, Lilly, Ruby, Alice, Charlotte, Alfie, Dan, Islaa, Callum, Chris, Freddie, Grace, Jenna and Sophie.
“Huge thanks, too, to the teachers Emma and Shauna and particularly to principal Debbi Ledwith, who organised the programme for the fabulous evening.”
In addition to singing, they included short episodes of drama.
“One by Grace in the first half was very good, and then in the second half and in costume by Freddie, from a piece about the First World War learnt by heart and being part of the LAMDA examination, was a stunning piece of drama. It brought tears to the eyes.”
Ship Inn Arts gave a donation towards their next competition costumes and shoes, which was very gratefully received.
The venue also thanked Georgie and John who opened the bar and Ship Inn Arts trustees Alison and Jane Pickering, who hosted the evening and the attentive and enthusiastic audience.
“We hope that Newbury Razzamataz will come again soon!
