Reading Magistrates' Court: Suspended sentence for Bishops Green man
A MAN has received a suspended prison sentence for a serious attack on a female emergency worker.
In the dock on Thursday, July 14, was William Davis.
The 30-year-old, of Beech Road, Bishops Green, pleaded guilty at a previous hearing to assaulting the woman detention officer at Reading on Sunday, April 17.
Magistrates ordered pre-sentence reports.
At Thursday's hearing he was sentenced to 12 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 18 months.
The court said a custodial sentence, albeit suspended, was necessary because of the serious nature of the unprovoked attack on the woman.
In addition, Mr Davis was ordered to abstain from alcohol for 90 days, which will be monitored by a portable electronic device.
Finally, he was ordered to pay £85 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £128.
