Real Ale Festival celebrates 10th year

Announcing the festival online, organisers said: “Each year we pick an area to source a large percentage of the ales from and this year it is middle England.
“However, we will still be selecting popular ales from the local area, as well as some selected drinks from the first Newbury Real Ale Festival 10 years ago.”
Set to take to the stage are indie band The Brightsparks and Newbury-based indie rock band Audience-Audio, along with hard rockers with a dash of blues, Young Lust, ska music from The Skarlets and rock and roll from Lance Skybaby and the Small Town Saviours.
To soak up some of the 200-plus ales, ciders, perries and wines, there will be a hog roast and tacos.
Sponsored by many local companies – including Gardner Leader solicitors, Apple Print and Quintons chartered surveyors – proceeds will go to Sutton Scotney charity Naomi House Children’s Hospice, which provides support to children and young adults with life-limiting conditions and their families.
The festival kicks off at noon at Northcroft. Entry costs £10, which includes a free glass and four drinks tokens.
