Recycling facility open in Padworth
All of West Berkshire's recycling will be processed at the 9.4 hectare facility
A NEW high-tech recycling facility in Padworth recently opened for residents.
The recycling centre is located in the state-of-the-art Integrated Waste Management Facility, Padworth, in Padworth Lane as part of the waste management contract between West Berkshire Council and Veolia Environmental Services.
The site is open between 12.30pm and 6pm Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays from 8am to 6pm.
All the district's recycling will be processed at the 9.4 hectare facility where instead of simply separating plastic bottles from cans, the plastic bottles themselves will be separated into different types through a process dubbed Magpie.
The new facility allows residents to recycle over 20 different types of waste materials such as soil and rubble, cardboard, drinks cartons Tetra Paks, garden waste, wood, fridges and freezers and much more.
However, the site is unable to accept general household rubbish and furniture, and food waste from residents will not be taken on site.
