Regulars take their poker faces to Las Vegas

Paul Turner and Kevin Dunwell represented the Lock, Stock and Barrel at the regional finals of the competition organised by Red Tooth Pub Poker in Portsmouth, having won a place through the local league.
Fifty-six-year-old Mr Turner, who works for a mechanical hire firm in Thatcham, won the regional finals in Portsmouth, and father-of-two Mr Dunwell, principal web developer at Vodafone in Newbury, came second.
Now Mr Turner has won an all expenses paid trip to the USA’s gambling capital, Las Vegas, for the final early next year, and Mr Dunwell plans to fly out to give him moral support.
Pub licensee Lee Marsh said: “Not only did the Lock, Stock and Barrel players get first and second place, but Paul has now won the regional final an incredible four times.”
Mr Dunwell, aged 54, said: “Although there’s an element of chance in poker, there’s also a lot of skill. We like playing against people who think it’s just a game of chance – because they lose in the end.”
Tuesday night poker at the Lock Stock and Barrel is a free-to-enter competition running over 13 weeks.
All are welcome, whether competition standard or beginners.
