Relay teams makes light work of half marathon

The all-women teams from the electrical firm in Station Road were raising money for children’s hospital Great Ormond Street, where colleague Paul Humbles’ daughter, Lara, is due to have a kidney transplant.
Each member ran a quarter of the 13.1-mile course, and both teams crossed the finish line in under three hours.
Operations director Nicki Honey said: “We are over the moon and very grateful to all our customers, suppliers and families for their support. The weather made it that much harder and, apart from the aches and pains the following day, we all survived."
Mr Humbles said: “Once or twice a month my wife makes the journey up to Great Ormond Street for Lara’s checkups and sees first-hand where the money the charity raises is spent.
“This can be something as simple as a blanket so that a parent can be with their child for the night, right through to life saving equipment – it all truly makes a difference.
“The ladies who completed the challenge are absolute legends; not only have they run the race, they’ve raised sponsorship from people who don’t even know our daughter Lara.
“Suppliers who ‘dared’ to enter the building were politely ‘mugged’ for their hard-earned cash and this, along with their typical British never-give-up spirit is what makes the people who fund raise truly great.
“The money raised will help my daughter and family get through this tough period. So to the Quicklight ladies, suppliers and anyone who has sponsored the team, we thank you all.”
