Remembrance Services in Newbury, Thatcham, Hungerford, West Berkshire villages and North Hampshire this weekend
The district will honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice as Remembrance services are held this Sunday.
War memorials in towns and villages across West Berkshire and North Hampshire will see thousands gather and fall silent in remembrance.
This will include church services, wreath-layings, ceremonies and parades on Sunday, November 12, as well as some smaller services for Armistice Day on Saturday, November 11.
Below is a list of some of the services being held in the local area.
NEWBURY: Sunday, 10:30am: The parade will begin at Pelican Lane and march the length of Northbrook Street. The mayor will take the salute at Mansion House Street before the Service of Remembrance in Market Place. Wreaths will then be laid at the War Memorial on the way to St Nicolas Church.
THATCHAM: Sunday, 10:30am: The parade will start at the Kingsland Centre car park, loop around Thatcham Broadway and up the High Street to the War Memorial. The mayor and the Royal British Legion will lead the service. After the main wreath laying, the public will be invited to lay their own tributes. The parade will then continue to St Mary’s Church.
Saturday, 10:45am: A smaller service will be held by the Royal British Legion at the War Memorial.
HUNGERFORD: Sunday, 10:30am: The procession will form up outside the Town Hall before marching down Bridge Street.
