Yattendon's Renegade Brewery embraces a more sustainable future

Renegade Brewery in Yattendon is taking steps towards being a more sustainable business producing zero waste.

The brewer already sends its spent grain to a local farm to be used as cattle feed.

But its staff aspire to do more towards achieving this goal.

The brewery is currently exploring the possibility of installing solar panels on its roof and for a waste water treatment plant, allowing it lower its carbon footprint by controlling its waste water.

It has recently brought all of its waste management in house. Up to 80 per cent of waste is recycled and the remainder is used for energy, sparing it from ending up on a landfill.

The brewery also plans to install a nitrogen generation plant to reduce its C02 dependence and output. Doing so will eliminate deliveries of C02, meaning subsequently fewer trucks on the roads.

Staff have further ideas planned, but will be pursuing these ventures for the time being.

Please note that the kitchen will be closed for essential maintenance work on Monday, January 30, between noon and 4pm.
