Newbury & Thatcham Repair Café seeking volunteers for February launch

A repair café will be opening its doors in the New Year — and is seeking volunteers.

The Newbury & Thatcham Repair Café will open its doors on Sunday, February 25, from 2pm until 4.30pm at Newbury Methodist Church Hall.

Visitors can take any items, from broken picture frames to a faulty HiFi speaker, to be fixed by volunteers.

But the café is currently looking for volunteers with electrical, sewing, tool sharpening and general repairing skills to continue providing this free service.

The café is also interested in volunteers to fill other roles such as welcoming visitors and serving tea and coffee.

Further monthly events will alternate between Thatcham and Newbury.

The first event in Thatcham will be held at the Frank Hutchings Community Hall on Sunday, March 24, from 10am until 12.30pm.
