Residents gearing up for firework displays tonight and Saturday





This evening, The Cottage Inn in Upper Bucklebury will be hosting its annual bonfire and fireworks display.
Gates open at 6pm, the bonfire will be lit at 7.30pm and the firework display will start at 8pm.
There will be an outside bar and burgers, veggie burgers, hot-dogs and soup on hand to warm up visitors.
Parking is available at The Memorial Hall and church car park.
Family tickets (up to 4 persons) are £15 on the gate. Single tickets £6 on the gate and under 5's go free.
The Chieveley Fireworks Display, which is believed to be the longest running village fireworks display in the UK, will also return tonight with a traditional bonfire and the traditional Guy competition which will be followed by the display.
Tickets will be available tonight (cash only) and priced at £18 per family or £5 per person.
It will be held at the Chieveley Recreation Centre.
Also tonight is the Falkland Cricket Club fireworks display.
The cost of entry is £5 per person, with under 5's free. A family of two adults and two children is £15.
The bonfire will be lit at 7.15pm, followed by fireworks at around 7.45 pm.
This Saturday, Pangbourne Primary School will be hosting a 20 minute ‘firework fiesta’, complete with a huge bonfire.
There will also be a barbecue, bar with West Berkshire beer, hot drinks, chocolate, and a tombola.
Adults and children 12 years and over are £7.50 each in advance or £10 on the gate.
Afamily ticket (5 family members 12 years and up) is £30, while children 11 years and under accompanied by an adult go free. Gates open at 5.30pm.
Also on Saturday, Lambourn Sports Club and Lambourn Festival Committee will present a ‘community bonfire party’ with fireworks.
The gates will be open from 6.30pm, the bonfire will be lit at 7pm and the firework display will start at 7.30pm.
Individual tickets are priced at £3 per adult and £1 per child in advance, and £3.50 and £1.50 on the gate (children must be accompanied by an adult).
As the Newbury Weekly News went to press, the organiser of Thatcham fireworks had said the event was going to be held at the Thatcham Memorial Field on Saturday from 5pm.
