Residents urged to check list of recalled household appliances
Residents in West Berkshire are being urged to check the list, compiled by the Electrical Safety Council, following a number of new additions in December, from electric showers to adapter plugs and light bulbs.
The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) has warned that a number of those identified pose a fire risk.
Full details from model numbers, colours, descriptions and photographs are included for most items.
Twenty-two models of Samsung fridge freezers are being recalled due to an internal fault which is said could pose a fire risk, as well as Hotpoint, Bosch and Siemens appliances.
Among the most recent additions to the list - which stems back to 2007 - is an Asda 2,000 watt hairdryer, sold for £7.96.
It is black with pink/red controls. Anyone who has purchased the device after September 2012 is urged to take it back to the store for a full refund, however the risk posed to the customer has not been confirmed.
A number of Beiyi products, including the E14 LED Globe Bulb, E14 LED Lamp and GU10 LED Lamp, were also added to the list in December.
In most cases, a full refund or product exchange is offered and a receipt is not always required.
