Residents urged to recycle old mobile phones
West Berkshire Council and Veolia have teamed up to help raise funds for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association
WEST Berkshire residents are being urged to hand over their old mobile telephones to raise funds for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
West Berkshire Council and Veolia Environmental Services have teamed up with the charity which has it headquarters in Burghfield Common to help raise funds to support its work of bringing independence and freedom to visually impaired people.
For every mobile phone recycled, the charity will get £3.50.
West Berkshire waste contract manager, Jackie Ward, said: “Simply remove the old sim card from your old mobile phone and take it to the recycling centre to raise all important funds for Guide Dogs.”
Veolia Environmental Services' West Berkshire communications and waste minimisation manager, Keely Gallagher, said: "Collecting the phones not only promotes our ‘reduce, reuse, recycle' ethos but helps the Guide Dogs with the valuable work it does to improve the lives of blind and partially sighted people.”
