Residents warned to take extra care as first of three fire strikes now underway

Members of the Fire Brigades Union, including several firefighters at the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, have withdrawn their labour today (Friday) from noon until 5pm.
Tomorrow (Saturday) they will strike again between 2pm and 2am and on Sunday between 10am and 3pm.
There will also be a ban on voluntary overtime across England and Wales from 3pm on Sunday until noon next Friday.
The strikes will be the 10th, 11th and 12th to be organised by the union since September.
Once again, RBFRS will call its contingency plans into action, including the use of emergency crews that received firefighter training ahead of the striking period last year.
However, the fire service has warned that it will be running with reduced resources and will therefore prioritise life-critical incidents during the hours of industrial action.
This is the latest measure to be taken by FBU members in its row with central Government over changes to the pension scheme.
