Results day is over! But what’s next?
The sky really is the limit for school leavers but amongst all of the options it can sometimes be hard knowing which pathway to choose.
This is where West Berkshire Training Consortium (WBTC) can help. Regardless of your results, there are plenty of routes to take when leaving school.
From an apprenticeship and traineeships to its successful Great Start Programme, there is plenty you can achieve with WBTC.
An apprenticeship is a perfect opportunity to hone in your skills and get hands-on experience in a field you’re interested in, you will achieve an industry recognised Apprenticeship Standard and be getting paid at the same time!
Working with local employers and learning as you go, whilst being supported by a Training Consultant makes the entire process much easier for those who may be apprehensive about entering a professional environment.
How do traineeships differ from apprenticeships?
If you’re looking to build confidence in the workplace then you may be better suited to spending a period of time gaining experience with an employer as well as time learning at the WBTC training centre.
You’ll be learning as you go and gaining the relevant knowledge and skills, supported by the team at our offices in the heart of Newbury, to prepare you for wherever your career may take you.
Sometimes results don’t always go as you’d expect but this is where the Great Start programme could be a perfect fit.
The programme allows learners to gain work experience as well as qualifications to develop employability skills as well as studying maths and English if you have not already achieved these.
Opportunities at WBTC can go way beyond apprenticeships and traineeships in Great Start, especially for those who hope for a better understanding of what they need to do in order to achieve their goals.
For those aged 19+ Maths and English Functional Skills can also be achieved through our fully funded Functional Skills programme. Training is delivered remotely by a tutor at a variety of times.
WBTC can help you make the big decisions at its open afternoon/evening on August 31st (Wednesday).
Pop down to its centre between 4pm and 7pm at 7 Cheap Street in Newbury to discuss what your future could look like.
