Resurfacing works start on Monks Lane tomorrow (Monday)

It is expected to take five nights to complete, with the work to be carried out between 7pm and 11pm to minimise disruption to motorists.
The A343 Andover Road will remain open with temporary traffic signals during working hours.
However, there will be no access to or from the A343 Andover Road into Monks Lane and Essex Street.
A signed diversion route for Monks Lane will be via the A343 Andover Road and Newtown Road, with a second signed diversion route for Essex Street, via Enborne Street, Normay Rise and Conifer Crest. Access to properties, businesses and shops will be provided via the diversions.
At the end of each working shift, all of the roads and approaches will reopen for the following day so that they can be used as normal.
This is one of the final projects to be undertaken by West Berkshire Council as part of its road resurfacing scheme, which is now 90 per cent complete.
The resurfacing of City Road, Tilehurst and the second phase of the A4 Western Avenue, Newbury are scheduled to be completed later in the Autumn.
Details of the resurfacing programme can be found on West Berkshire Council’s website at info.westberks.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=27889
