Alice Bye Court hosts Macmillan cancer charity coffee morning in Thatcham

A Thatcham retirement home recently hosted a charity coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Residents and guests attended the coffee morning on September 27 in the Hidden Gem Café at Alice Bye Court, located in Bluecoats.

A total of £189 was raised, with Thatcham mayor Suzanne Adamantos and deputy mayor Petra Pemberton drawing the raffle tickets.

Each slice of cake and hot drink was sold for £4.95, with 50p being donated to Macmillan.

Plenty of donations for raffle prizes were received from local companies and members of the community.

“The community really pulled together,” said assistant housing manager Tammy New.

“It was so lovely to see so many come and join us for the morning.”

The venue will be holding another coffee morning for Breast Cancer Now on October 16 at 10.30am.

Visitors are asked to wear pink if possible.
