RetroFestival 2016 will be biggest yet

Music, food and classic cars

NEXT month sees the return of the Retrofestival, now in its 10th year – and organisers have promised the event will be bigger and better than ever.

Last year saw the event – held at Newbury Showground for the first time – welcome more than 25,000 festival-goers for a weekend of music, exhibitions and plenty of food and drink.

And with the success of the 2015 festival, organisers have hired another 177 acres so there will be more to see and do.

Paul Jezard, the owner, said: “It really was a leap of faith moving the festival from its original home in White Waltham to Newbury Showground.

“The showground was much larger than the previous site and we needed to fill it.

“We did and with the better road network and better site we managed to capture the imaginations of our visitors, so this year we have invested even more into the exhibits and activities and have opened up a new field just for people camping.”

Held on August 12, 13 and 14, Retrofestival is the largest event of its type, and will feature three marquees playing DJ sets and live music throughout the weekend.

The showground will also be host to more than 1,000 classic vehicles on display, while festival-goers can browse more than 200 stalls selling vintage wares.

As if that wasn’t enough, the festival will also feature two world record attempts – the amount of vintage caravans in one place, and stuntman Chris Bromham will attempt to jump over 20 double decker buses on a motorbike.
