Thatcham Family Fun Day returning to Henwick next month
Thatcham Family Fun Day is returning for its 24th installment at the end of June.
And it expects to boast a record number of attractions and stallholders for visitors of all ages.
Mayor of Thatcham Suzanne Adamantos said: “Thatcham Family Fun Day just gets bigger and better each year.
“I can’t wait to meet everyone and support our brilliant local businesses and charities.
“Do bring the whole family along, as there will be something for everyone.”
The music stage, sponsored by Newbury Building Society, will be compered by Sion Whiley and feature performances by Reading-based Beat Roots Bateria, tribute band The Lost Keys and rising star DJ Hypester.
The classic car show, hosted by Thatcham and District Rotary Club, will showcase 150 classic and vintage vehicles – making it the biggest display yet.
The Sports Zone will feature a climbing wall, penalty shoot speed shot, rugby for tots, hockey, lawn bowls and a rope bridge, courtesy of Thatcham Scouts.
Other attractions will include a Ferris wheel, dodgems, toy carousel, a funfair, an inflatable assault course and returning favourites, Juggling Jake and Punch & Judy.
The Dog Show, sponsored by Thatcham’s Picture It Framed, will feature categories such as ‘Cutest Puppy’ and ‘Dog That Looks Most Like Its Owner’.
Entrants should register on the day at the show arena by noon.
And new to this year’s event, Thatcham is hosting its first Pride Parade to conclude the Family Fun Day.
Leading up to the parade, the Rainbow Zone will offer flag and hat making and drumming workshops for all attendees.
And the Dance Zone, sponsored by Image Box, will provide opportunities to check out more than 10 dance schools, featuring styles as varied as street dance to classic Indian.
The RPM Bike Display will also be exhibiting stunt performances.
Community and charity stalls will be offering face painting, toys, books, jewellery, crafts, homeware and food – so take cash to support local charities.
Thatcham’s Cook & Butcher, Moon & Stars Catering, Delphic Brewing Company and Gee Gee Gin will also be providing refreshments.
The Vegan Street Market is attending for the first time.
The free event will be held at Henwick Worthy Sports Field, Thatcham, on Sunday, June 30, from 11am until 4pm.
Attendees are encouraged to consider environmentally friendly travel options.
