Reveller knocks victim's tooth out

Victim Paul Eaton said in an impact statement remedial work will cost up to £3,000 and that he is too afraid to enjoy a night out in town any more.
In the dock on Thursday, October 3, was 23-year-old Jack Drummond of Cold Ash Hill, Cold Ash.
Claire Beards, prosecuting, said Mr Eaton was leaving a kebab shop in Market Place when Mr Drummond suddenly punched him in the face, knocking out his front tooth.
She said: “He was blindsided.”
Ms Beards handed magistrates pictures of Mr Eaton’s injuries and read his victim statement which said: “It’s affected my confidence and appearance. I mumble so I don’t have to open my mouth and expose the missing tooth. I’ve not been out in Newbury since - it’s not worth the hassle.”
Mr Eaton said he had the option of lengthy and painful root canal work to replace the missing tooth costing £600 on the NHS, or a private veneer costing £3,000.
He said he has been made redundant from work and currently can not afford either option.
Mr Drummond admitted assault causing actual bodily harm on August 4 this year.
Mike Davis, defending, said his client had misinterpreted a sitation inside the kebab shop and misidentified Mr Eaton as someone he believed was about to attack his friend.
He added: “He was drunk, basically. He has never been in any sort of trouble before and is a polite, articulate young man with a good work ethic. This was as out of character as it gets; he genuinely regrets his actions and knows he must pay for what happened.”
Mr Davis handed in references on behalf of Mr Drummond.
After briefly adjourning for reports to be prepared, magistrates told Mr Drummond he had narrowly escaped a jail sentence thanks to the “glowing” references and his previous good character.
The court imposed a 12 month community order with 150 hours’ unpaid community work requirement.
Magistrates also ordered Mr Drummond to pay Mr Eaton £1,750 compensation towards the cost of having his tooth repaired.
