Newbury Riding for the Disabled hosts 5k to raise money for new outdoor arena

A riding charity for disabled people is hosting a sponsored 5km walk this Sunday morning to raise money for a new outdoor arena.

Newbury Riding for the Disabled (Newbury RDA) is a voluntary organisation dedicated to enabling local disabled children to ride ponies and enjoy the benefits it gives them.

The walk/run is taking place in the countryside around Hampstead Norreys and the group is hoping to raise £5,000 to put towards the arena’s construction.

Trustee and safeguarding officer at the Newbury RDA Debra Thomas said the arena, “will have huge benefits for our riders, ponies, and volunteers”.

Greenham Trust will match every donation at a 5:1 ratio, meaning that if the charity reaches its £5k target, the trust will award the Newbury RDA £25,000.

The walk will start and finish at Newbury RDA’s headquarters at Wyld Court Stud.

It will take place from 10am to 12pm, and there will be a number of stalls set up to boost the fundraising.

Sponsorship forms are available from the Newbury RDA website and the charity suggests a minimum donation of £10 per person to participate.
