MOTORISTS have had a lucky escape this morning (Monday), after two lorries and a sports car were involved in a collision in Newbury during rush hour.
The collision happened at about 9.20am on the southbound carriageway of the A339 approximately 20 metres before the Sainsbury’s roundabout.
The vehicles involved in the collision were a David Ford Transport lorry, a Rawlings Transport lorry and a silver Nissan sports car.
One ambulance and two police cars arrived at the scene, with a police presence also at the Robin Hood roundabout.
The A339 southbound carriageway was closed between the Robin Hood roundabout and the Sainsbury’s roundabout, but reopened at 11.05am.
The northbound carriageway was also shut for about fifteen minutes at about 10am to allow cars on the southbound carriageway to turn around.
No-one was seriously injured in the collision but the driver of the Nissan car was suffering from shock and was taken to Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.
The collision caused large queues on the southbound carriageway of the A339.
