Road repairs programme on A34 starts today (Monday)
The Secretary of State for Transport, Justine Greening, has granted the Highways Agency permission to introduce overnight restrictions along the road for the next 12 months, totalling approximately 30 nights over the period (non-consecutive).
The work willinclude carriageway repairs, road marking, cats eyes, kerbing and gully work, and vegetation clearance, and will be carried out periodically, overnight, between 10pm and 6am.
An overnight temporary mandatory 40mph speed restriction on lengths of both carriageways of the A34 between the roundabout at its junction with the M40 at Junction 9 and West Ilsley Interchange will be imposed.
At certain stages of the work, an overnight temporary mandatory 10mph speed restriction will be in place on lengths of the road while traffic will be escorted through the works area by a convoy system.
There will be no more than two sets of 4,000m of restrictions at any one time.
The Transport Secretary’s order is valid for one year.
