Road safety and crime prevention tips on offer at Neighbourhood Watch tonight

The guest speaker will be Steve Mornington from the Highways Agency who will be discussing the Winter Partnership Campaign ‘ Make Time for Winter’ which focuses on personal responsibility for journey preparations.
Police and fire officers will provide crime updates and information about setting up a Neighbourhood Watch scheme will also be available.
Chair of the Newbury Neighbourhood Watch, Angela Money, said that members were less likely to be victims of crime if they and their neighbours were made aware of local problems and crime prevention tips from the Police.
Mrs Money said: “It is a good way to get to know your neighbours, you can help one another, especially the elderly.
“This makes residents feel secure knowing that neighbours are keeping an eye on their property.”
Last year Neighbourhood Watch received the Queens Diamond Jubilee Volunteers Award in recognition for their work and results from a national survey showed a 79 per cent reduction in crime where watch schemes were in place.
The meeting, held by the Newbury and Thatcham Neighbourhood Watch, will be held at the West Berkshire Council offices in Market Street on February 18 at 7:30pm.
Anyone is welcome to attend.
