Roll up for Hungerford’s Victorian Extravaganza

THE 22nd annual Victorian Extravaganza was a roaring success, drawing huge crowds to Hungerford on Friday (December 13).

Chairwoman of the Chamber of Commerce, Karen Salmon, said the spectacle “brings the charm and magic of the Victorian era to life in the picturesque market town of Hungerford.”

She added: “This festive celebration transformed the High Street into a scene straight out of the 19th century.”

Visitors enjoyed traditional stalls, street entertainers including the Tin Soldier and Sugar Plum Fairy, beautifully dressed performers such as carol singers in authentic Victorian attire, creating a nostalgic and enchanting atmosphere.

The highlight of the event was the grand parade, complete with the Reading Pipe Band, vintage vehicles, Hungerford Theatre Company, the Rock Choir and local schoolchildren holding home made lanterns.

The street was filled with steam engines, fairground rides, local businesses selling their wares on the street, charity stalls and a traditional fairground organ that added to the old-world charm.

Visitors explored unique crafts, indulged in festive treats, and enjoyed live music and performances.

“It was perfect mix of tradition, fun, and festive spirit.”
