Roll up for the annual Newbury Rotary Boules Tournament
Newbury Rotary Club has rolled out another exciting boules tournament and all teams slots are booked – except for the businesses who snap up one of three remaining sponsorship packages.
The annual event aims to raise £5,000 to be shared among four local charities: Time to Talk, Riding for the Disabled, Home Start-West Berkshire and New Life.
The event is run by Newbury Phoenix Rotary Club, in conjunction with Newbury Rotary Club, and is endorsed by Newbury Town Council and Newbury Business Improvement District (BID).
So far, 13 businesses have been booked to compete in the event in late June, including last year’s winner Willow and Blooms.
Other businesses who have put forward a team include A-Plan insurance, the 41 Club, BNI Jack O’Newbury and the Newbury Weekly News.
Organisers are now looking for three more teams to sponsor the event and fill those remaining slots.
Sponsors will both compete in the tournament and receive a benefits package including boards displaying their name and mentions in local media throughout the tournament.
Alison Stanton from Newbury Phoenix Rotary said: “While we have a lucky 13 teams booked already and a main sponsor in Southern Maintenance Solutions UK Ltd (SMS), three of the ‘piste sponsorships’ have already gone to SMS, UHY Ross Brooke and Apple Print and Creative (AP&C).
“Three ‘piste sponsorships’ remain and each includes a team entry as part of the benefits package.
“Sponsorship also includes boards displaying the business’ logo on ‘your’ piste, inclusion in the event programme, appearing in the NWN, social media and Kennet Radio throughout the event, together with your own gazebo in the ‘boules village’ if you wish.”
With sponsorship now the only way to secure a team in the tournament, the packages are expected to go fast.

The event will take place on Sunday, June 25, at Newbury’s Market Place.
