Pangbourne Rotary Club appoints new President
Rotary clubs around the world chose their new presidents last month.
Pangbourne Rotarians took to the task of selecting their new president at their annual president’s dinner held at Goring and Streatley Golf Club on Friday, June 28.
The event was attended by 35 members and their guests.
Outgoing president Brian Davies handed over the chain of office to James Richardson, noting how 18 former presidents are still active club members.
All members congratulated Mr Richardson, who attributed the successes of the past year to Mr Davies’ energy and enthusiasm at each event.
He then completed his first presidential duty by appointing Ed Daniel as president elect.
Mr Davies took the opportunity to review all of the club’s achievements over the past 12 months, during which time it had donated more than £36,000 across 50 mostly local charities.
Mr Davies also briefly reflected on his five years as a Rotarian.
Early in June, thanks to Mr Daniel and Mal Sandham, Mr Davies had led a networking evening, bringing together more than 20 local charities which Pangbourne Rotary had donated to.
Each of the charities delivered presentations on the various work they did among the homeless, young people coming out of care, families in need of foodbanks and supporting refugees in Ukraine.
