Thatcham Rotary Club tackles loneliness in My Speaker Friend project

A community organisation is doing its bit to tackle loneliness and isolation through technology.

Thatcham Rotary Club has presented 22 speakers and memory sticks to the My Speaker Friend project.

The project is freely available to people experiencing loneliness or isolation as they have no access to the internet, tablets or smartphones.

Grant organiser John Gleeson said the "small, easy to use" speakers can open the world to those in desperate need of interaction with the outside world.

Thatcham Rotary Club contributed funds from their charity account, matched by Rotary International's Charity, The Rotary Foundation.
