Harry Redknapp, Princess Anne and Martin Clunes all spotted at Newbury Racecourse for jumps season opener
There was a royal visitor and footballing royalty in Newbury on Thursday for the BetVictor Jumps season opener.
Princess Anne was at Newbury Racecourse to present a charity trophy, while former football manager Harry Redknapp was also there to cheer on his own horse.
The Princess Royal presented the trophy for the British Horse Society Charity Race, which was won by the Alice Haynes-trained Maysong.
The seven-year-old, which is also owned by Miss Haynes, was ridden by Eleanor Wellesley in the one mile race.
The Princess Royal arrived at Newbury by helicopter and spent time chatting to the jockeys in the charity race after it had finished.
Also watching on was football legend, Harry Redknapp, who was mobbed by fans wanting a selfie as he tried to leave the parade ring.
He was there to watch his horse, Bowtogreatness, win Race 3, the BetVictor’s Weekend Winners Novices’ Limited Handicap Steeplechase.
Also spotted watching the action was actor Martin Clunes.
The charity race kicked off the day of racing at Newbury and was one of eight races throughout the first day of the jump season.
