Nearly 100 charities come together at Shaw House for information sharing knowledge event in West Berkshire
Nearly 100 charities will come together for a ‘Knowledge Event’ in Newbury next week.
The ‘Knowledge Event’ – which is the brainchild of Volunteer Centre West Berkshire’s director Garry Poulson – will take place on Monday (March 20) at Shaw House.
It will see 96 different organisations raise awareness of volunteering and highlight the help and support available across the district.
Mr Poulson will be joined by the Duchess of Gloucester at the event, who will meet representatives of the charitable organisations.
“We wanted to bring together West Berkshire charities all of whom are working within our various communities in a myriad of ways,” said Mr Poulson. “It’s so important that charities know what one another are doing and important also that the statutory bodies such as councils, NHS staff, police, fire and ambulance services know too.
“Partnership working is the best way forward for successful outcomes in communities and for the environment in which we live and by enabling voluntary sector workers to get to know statutory partners, working relationships will develop more quickly than they otherwise would in an online world.”
A key note speech will be given by CEO of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations Sarah Vibert.
