'Royal wedding' in Kingsclere

Reception class pupils try to remember their 'vows' in pretend royal ceremony

KINGSCLERE Primary School pupils were guests at the ‘wedding' of reception class pupils on Thursday (Apr 28), where Haribo rings were exchanged.

The Rev. Trish Bancroft, curate of St Mary's church in the village, carried out the pretend marriage of pupils Abbie Mills and Liam Osborne, both aged six, attended by four bridesmaids and three pageboys, with Abbie given away by the father-of-the-bride.

“They had a fantastic time. It was lovely to see them enjoying the whole day,” said deputy headteacher, Steve Wells.

“They got all their words right, despite a few nerves before and after,” he added.

The ‘ceremony' was followed by a royal wedding day themed lunch.
