Rubbish, bodily fluids and drink bottles left at BBOWT Nature Discover Centre in Thatcham

Rubbish, bodily fluids and more than 30 drink bottles were left at the Nature Discovery Centre on Friday night (October 6).

The patio of the BBOWT (Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust) centre in Thatcham was left in this state following a party.

BBOWT shared images of the mess on its social media page on X (formerly Twitter) the next morning and said it was “very upsetting” to see.

It said: “This is not just a hazard to wildlife, but to our visitors with kids and dogs.

“It's great to spend time in nature, but please take your rubbish home.”

Rubbish was left at the same location earlier this year.

In January, the NDC found packaging from food and drink items, mostly alcoholic beverages, on the benches and floor.

Benches and tables were moved and not put back in their correct places.

The centre said it did not mind people using this space but requested that they tidy up after themselves.

Speaking at the time, it said: “We really don't mind you using our undercover area for socialising in the evenings but please could you take your litter home with you and move the furniture back where you found it?”
