Runner up prize for Brimpton's Three Horseshoes

Second spot in West Berkshire CAMRA awards

THE Three Horseshoes in Brimpton has once again been recognised as one of the best pubs in the district.

It recently received the runner-up prize for the ‘best community pub of the year’ from the West Berkshire Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

The Three Horseshoes, which won the accolade last year, was pipped to this year’s award by the Cottage Inn, Upper Bucklebury.

Landlady Michelle Lebrasse, who has run the pub for the past six years, said: “It is really nice to be recognised.

“There are 152 pubs in West Berkshire, so to be runner-up is quite an achievement.

“Having said that, after winning it last year I’d be lying if there wasn’t a part of me that was a little bit disappointed not to have done it again this year.

“We have donated quite a bit to the local school and church in the past year, but rest assured we are going to go for it again in 2017.”

The Three Horseshoes has been situated in the middle of Brimpton for more than 150 years.

It was bought by Arkells in 2001.

The pub will continue its community fundraising campaign by hosting two murder mystery evenings on December 10 and 17.

The tickets are priced £10, to include a basket meal.

The majority of the money the pub raises in the next 12 months will be split between the local church, the Thames Valley Air Ambulance and the village school.
