Runners invited to take part in Newbury Parkrun
Five kilometre runs will take place at Greenham Common each week
CALLING runners of all ages, shapes and sizes.
A new, free, weekly timed five kilometre event is to take place every Saturday morning on Greenham Common.
Newbury Parkrun enjoyed a successful trial on Sunday, and now as a launch date of February 11 for its first event.
With tens of thousands of people taking part in Parkrun programs around the country, event director for Newbury Rachael Elliott said she hoped the inaugural event would attract a large turnout.
“it is designed for everyone. We want to include as many people as possible; children, adults, whether you want to lose weight or just get faster at running, please come along.
The event is run by volunteers and is free to enter, to help out email rachael.elliott@gmail.com.
All you have to do is register by logging on to www.parkrun.org.uk/newbury/home.
The event is being made possible through the local support of Team Kennet and West Berkshire Council and through national sponsors Lucozade, Sweatshop and Adidas.
Greenham Common Trust and Greenham and Crookham Commons Commission have agreed to free up the land in order for the event to happen.
Parking for the event will be at Greenham Business Park, and the Parkrun team has have arranged for the Coffee Exchange to open for refreshments after the event.
