Car fire on A339 in Newbury causing morning rush hour gridlock

AN earlier car fire is currently blocking two lanes on the A339 in Newbury.

Police are at the scene of the single vehicle incident, which is on the northbound carriageway adjacent to Victoria Park, between the Sainsbury's and Robin Hood roundabouts.

The fire has been extinguished but the car is still awaiting recovery.

Traffic is building up in the area and motorists should allow extra time for their journeys or find an alternative route.
