Sad news for family following fatal collapse in Newbury post office

EMERGENCY services were called after an elderly man collapsed in a Newbury post office today, New Year's Eve.

The incident happened at 12.10pm in Andover Road.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: "We were called to the post office in Andover Road following a report of a medical episode.

"An 86-year-old man sadly died.

"His next of kin have been made aware and are being offered support.

"Our thoughts are with his loved ones."

He added: "The man’s death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
