Bloor Homes’s pedal-powered effort sees staff go extra mile for Comic Relief on Red Nose Day

Staff at a Newbury-based house builder have been taking part in a virtual bike ride to raise money for Comic Relief, writes Piers Mucklejohn.

The route taken by staff from Bloor Homes’s southern regional head office – from Newbury to Wimborne in Dorset and back – totals 132 miles.

Employees will be making the journey between 7.30am and 5pm today (Friday), with money raised through donations from staff.

Lesley Wellsman, regional office manager, explained that the odyssey to and from the company’s south-west development would be a communal effort in which employees will take turns saddling up.

“Comic Relief is all about having fun, but for serious causes," she added.

“It’s great to know that this small team effort is part of something much bigger, and that the money we raise will help those who really need it.”

Staff have made a small donation in order to don athletic wear for the day.

While the journey itself is a small-scale operation, taking place on a static bike in the office, the money raised will help Comic Relief to support people across the UK and around the world.
