Safety concerns ground Thames Valley air ambulance

Operator Bonda Air Service has taken the decision to pull the helicopter out of service along the rest of its fleet leaving large parts of the UK without cover.
All 22 of its Eurocopter EC 135 helicopters have been temporarily taken out of commission over concerns about possible cracks in the rotor blades.
Cover is now being arranged, with the Hampshire & Isle of Wight air ambulance expected to cover Thames Valley and other areas.
A possible fault was identified last month leading the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to increase safety inspections on the EC 135.
A crack was found during maintenance work at Staverton Airport, Gloucestershire, and was reported to Eurocopter who issued an additional safety notice on Sunday.
"We take the view that this has been going on long enough," the statement said.
"Eurocopter need to give a definitive statement about the problem and the solution to it.
"Until that happens we've taken the view that safety comes first and have suspended the service."
Many clinical staff are being redeployed to rapid response road vehicles.
