Santa can get down Englefield chimney thanks to firefighters

White eatch manager at Tilehurst Fire Station, Steve Andrews, said one pump was called at 6am today (Sat) to The Farm House, North Street, where a chimney was on fire.
The blaze started after the fire was lit and a birds nest fell down into the grate.
Firefighters used rods and a thermal imaging camera to ensure the chimney was clear of any remaining debris, before leaving the scene at 7.15am.
Tilehurst firefighters were also called out to a chimney fire in Beenham at midnight on Monday (Dec 23), with one pump called from Tilehurst fire station.
Blue watch crew manager, Robin Jordan, issued a safety message to ensure chimneys were not overloaded and to get them swept regularly.
