Said to be delighted with new soft seats and pimped stereo system

SANTA will be rolling out a brand new sleigh for the first time this evening as he goes around Newbury to collect Christmas lists before his big night.

The man in the red suit had his sleigh ‘pimped out' by Newbury Crash Repair, with more comfortable seats, more space for presents and a bigger music system.

He will, as usual, be accompanied by the elfish members of Newbury Round Table as they go to various Newbury estates to greet children and collect for charity.

Newbury Round Table's Paul Morris said: “The old sleigh was a bit tatty and the team at Newbury Crash Repair worked very hard to get the new version ready in time for Christmas.

“The big man has yet to take a ride in it, but we're sure he'll love it!”

The sleigh's first test-drive will take it to the Racecourse Housing Estate from 5.30pm to 7.30pm tomorrow evening (Thursday) and will then visit several other estates in the coming days. It will also be parked outside Boots in Northbrook St this Saturday and next.
