Santas on the run in Thatcham

Thatcham and District Rotary Club has organised the event on Sunday (15), starting at 11am from the Broadway.
The event will be raising money for local charities, in particular local flood charity Thatcham Relief in Need, and the new renal dialysis unit and the Rainbow Rooms at the West Berkshire Community Hospital, run by Cancer Care Trust.
Participants can walk, jog or run the five-kilometre course around the lake by the Nature Discovery Centre, Muddy Lane.
Entry costs £20 for adults and £10 for under-18s and this will include a free Santa outfit and a medal at the finish line.
The president of the club, Frank Quinn, said that it was a wonderful way to start the festive season by hosting a community event that would raise money for local charities.
He said: “I hope that at least 500 people will apply for tickets so that a reasonable amount of money will be donated.
“It will be a very colourful morning with the entrants dressed as Santa and it should be great fun.“
