Save money by cutting food waste this summer
The 'Love Food, Hate Waste' roadshow is coming to West Berkshire
IF you want to potentially save your family about £600 a year then a roadshow coming to West Berkshire could help.
The Love Food, Hate Waste roadshow will be showcasing useful kitchen gadgets and inventive recipe cards that could help save up to £50 a month when it comes to West Berkshire this summer.
The average family waste food costs approximately £680 a year, according to Love Food, Hate Waste.com so waste officers from West Berkshire Council and their waste and recycling contractors, Veolia Environmental Services, will be offering advice on how householders can cut their food waste.
The roadshow will stop at the following locations: Tesco, London Road, Newbury, between 10am and 4pm on Friday, July 22; Newbury Market Place between 8.30am and 3pm on Thursday, July 28; Tesco Extra, Pinchington Lane, Newbury, between 10am and 4pm on Monday, August 8; and Thatcham Market between 8am and 3pm on Friday, August 19.
Regional Communications and Waste Minimisation Manager at Veolia, Keely Gallagher, said: "The Love Food, Hate Waste campaign raises awareness about how to reduce food waste just with some simple guidelines, so we can all see some great money saving benefits in return from our shopping bills."
Hilary Cole (Con, Chieveley), West Berkshire's executive councillor for the environment, added: "Increased food prices can be tough for the average family but the Love Food Hate Waste roadshow can help us save money on our weekly shopping bill.
"Waste Officers will give advice on how to turn leftover food we already have into some truly fabulous seasonal dishes."
