Jones Robinson staff take on 3 Peaks Challenge to raise funds for Newbury Cancer Care, Naomi House & Jacksplace and Julia’s House

A host of intrepid members of staff from a Newbury estate agent have set off on their latest charity challenge.

The 12 people, from Jones Robinson, are taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge this weekend, to raise vital funds for Newbury Cancer Care, Naomi House & Jacksplace and Julia’s House.

The

Company has been raising money for local organisations and projects for more than two decades – in 2018 and 2019 they donated a total of £78,000 - and were incredibly disappointed that they were unable to continue their large charity events throughout the pandemic.

But they are now back with a mountain of a challenge – and have been training hard to prepare for it.

Anna Hill, Caitlin Fitzgerald, Caroline Wright, Charles Robinson, Chloe Morey, Lucy Coombes, Mel Lord, Rachel Crayton, Sam Norman, Sara Robinson, Steph Smith and Toyah Leonard will all be participating in the Three Peaks Challenge tomorrow and Sunday.

It will see them attempt to complete climbs on Britain’s three highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon - within 24 hours.

Maintaining their fundraising efforts during the coronavirus pandemic saw Charles Robinson take on a solo cycle challenge. He cycled along the Kennet and Avon Canal from the firm’s Newbury office to its Devizes office and back again in just one very rainy day. He managed to raise £6,000.

A spokesperson for the company said: “Supporting charities and our local community has been a vital part of the Jones Robinson ethos since our beginnings in 1998. Over the last twenty years and more we have supported a number of charities through a series of increasingly ambitious and successful fundraising events.

“Who could forget Charles cycling from our Newbury office to our Devizes office and back in a single day back in 2020.

“Whilst the whole team is incredibly proud of what Charles achieved, we absolutely missed group fundraising. From holding cake sales, virtual horse racing nights or taking it in turns to undertake a 24-hour ride on a static exercise bike - we’ve done it all!

“Fundraising as a company is a great way to not just raise money for brilliant causes, but also bonds us as a team and helps us achieve goals that may seem impossible at first.

Newbury Cancer Care works with clinical nurse specialists, medical professionals and the day hospice to help people in the West Berkshire community who have been diagnosed with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses.

Naomi House & Jacksplace provide hospice care to more than 550 life-limited and life-threatened children, young adults and families from central southern England.

Julia's House is a Children's Hospice in Dorset and Wiltshire that provides practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

The team have so far raised more than £8,000 of their £12,000 target. To boost that figure even more you can visit the JustGiving page here – https://bit.ly/39lz0c2

Connor Phillips, fundraising officer for Naomi House, said: “We have been so grateful to Jones Robinson for selecting Naomi House & Jacksplace as one of their charity partners this year. They are aiming to raise an incredible £12,000 for their charity partners, which for our hospices means that we can continue to be there for our families when they need us most.

“The Jones Robinson team is an absolute pleasure to work with and we are so excited to see what 2022 brings.”

And Jo Common, fundraiser at Julia’s House, added: “We have loved getting to know the team at Jones Robinson, as they are so passionate about supporting our cause.

"I wish the team taking on the 3 Peaks Challenge very best of luck. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for sunshine and I'm looking forward to seeing all the photos.”
