Theale Green School jumping for joy after Platinum Award win
A school is celebrating another year of academic achievement.
Theale Green School has retained its School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2023/24 academic year, in recognition of its commitment to physical education studies.
Pupils and staff at the school say they are delighted to have been recognised as only one of a handful of schools in Berkshire to have gained this prestigious award.
Speaking about the school’s win, director of sport and PE Tony Blinco said: “We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of physical activity and school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our events possible.
“We are committed to using the School Games to try to engage those young people who have not previously been active or represented our school and to try to ensure that all our students have a positive experience and want to try out new activities beyond school too in our community.”
Mr Blinco added: “We believe in the power of physical activity and school sport as a school and give opportunities to those young people that need it most as either a participant, leader, official or volunteer.”
The award is part of a government-led scheme started in 2012 and facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise schools’ commitment to keeping young people active.
