Kintbury St Mary's School presents village scarecrow trail

THESE fantastic characters were on display throughout the village as pupils at St Mary's School celebrated World Book Day recently.

The theme this year was 'Heroes and Villains' and the project was organised by the PTA (Parent Teachers Association).

Sam Ellis from the PTA, who worked with school head of English Anna Floyd on the project, said: "It’s the second year the school has been involved in a scarecrow trail and it’s been another success.

"The school and PTA jointly decided to make this a community event rather than a fundraising one.

"People could email in for a list of houses with a display or pop in to the Kintbury Corner Stores to pick one up then take in the scarecrows at their leisure."

The entry which was judged best scarecrow was The Enormous Crocodile by Joe and Megan Varley, who won a book voucher from The Hungerford Bookshop.
