A local school celebrated the return of its annual summer fete at the weekend.

“Our summer festival went very well,” said chair of Friends of Bucklebury School, Sarah Belcher.

“We were pleased to be able to raise £2,568.70, despite not raising our prices from last year.

“Our aim is inclusion and enhancing the learning environment and so we wanted to ensure that families all got to access the fun of our event without price excluding anyone.

“There were excellent performances from our school choir, dance group and also the Deer Class sang several songs.

“We were lucky to be supported by a number of local companies donating to our raffle, including Downer & Co who also help with advertising and Re:Water gave us a donation of spring water to sell.”

The school is currently in discussions with its contractors to spend the funds raised last year on its outdoor area, adding a path and raised beds for the pupils to work on gardening.
