Kennet PTA raises £30,000 for school improvements

Kennet School's Parent Teacher Association has raised £30,000 to fund key improvements across the school.

The funds raised in the last academic year have allowed the school to purchase table tennis tables for social areas and install blackout blinds in the school hall.

Events the PTA organised to raise the sum included a Halloween Disco, quiz nights, a Christmas Fayre, Year 7 Graduation Disco and a Firework Night — jointly held with Francis Baily Primary School and Whitelands Park Primary School.

Chair of the Kennet PTA Lyse Moss said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have raised £30,000 for the school in our first year as a new committee.

“Having such a proactive team has meant we’ve worked hard and enjoyed the journey.

“Working alongside the school has been a pleasure, as they’ve been very supportive.

“Our target this year is to raise enough to purchase a minibus, and we look forward to the challenge.”

Headteacher Grace Rigg added: “We are incredibly fortunate to have such a committed and enthusiastic PTA.

“Their fundraising efforts have made a tangible difference to the school environment, benefiting both pupils and staff.

“The new blinds have elevated the quality of our productions, and the table tennis tables have created a wonderful addition to our social spaces.

“We are excited to support the PTA as they embark on their next ambitious project.”

Last year’s funds went towards refurbishing the school toilets and purchasing laptops and computers.
