Burghclere Primary School ‘delighted’ with new outdoor woodland playground

A primary school has kicked off the year in style, with the official opening of its new woodland playground, writes Ollie Basham.

The official ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on the first day of term and was attended by both pupils and staff at Burghclere Primary School.

Headteacher Beulah Letchford said: “We are delighted to provide our pupils with this fantastic new playground.

“It not only enhances our outdoor facilities but also supports our commitment to encouraging active, healthy lifestyles.

“The playground is a space where our children can learn through play, develop new skills, and build friendships.”

The school said the facility is designed to inspire play, creativity, and physical activity for pupils of all ages and includes climbing structures, a low ropes course, and construction materials, all created to promote physical health, teamwork, and imaginative play.

It is hoped the new playground - which represents a significant investment in the wellbeing and development of the school’s pupils by the parent fundraising group, FOBS - will offer a range of activities that cater to the needs and interests of all children.

The children were eager to explore the area following the cutting of the ribbon.
