Thorngrove School’s third annual fun run supports The Brain Tumour Charity
Dinosaurs, sharks, witches, video game characters and flamingos all took part in a school charity fun run to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity.
Thorngrove School held its third annual fun run on Friday, May 26, with students of all ages dressing up in costume and taking to the school fields to take part in the unique charity event.
Sponsored runners embarked on a route that went through the school grounds while also completing a variety of fun activities.
These included a football goal scoring challenge, a bubble area, rugby tackle pads and a large slip slide, all of which the children organised and managed on the day.
Thorngrove teacher and one of the fun run organisers Victoria McSorland said: “It’s a really good day.
“We’ve been running it now for three years, and it’s a day that all the children know is coming and get really excited about. They dress up and go wild with the fancy dress.”
This year’s fun run theme was ‘something that makes you happy’ and it gave the children scope to think outside the box with dress-up ideas.
Some Thorngrove pupils came in inflatable costumes and others got experimental with face paint. Several children teamed up and went as their shared favourite animal or fictional character.
The independent North Hampshire prep school has been supporting The Brain Tumour Charity at fundraising events throughout the school year after a year 8 pupil received a devastating malignant brain tumour diagnosis.
Thorngrove School has raised £7,000 so far this year, with fundraisers including an aerobathon and a sponsored 27-mile trek.
One female pupil even completed the three peaks challenge over the recent half term break as part of the school’s charitable activities.
