Trinity School's non-uniform day helps raise funds to install a new defibrillator in the sports hall

A second defibrillator has been installed at a Newbury secondary school, writes Fiona Paus.

The lifesaving device was bought with funds raised from a non-uniform day at Trinity School last July and has been installed at the sports hall.

Dr Charlotte Wilson, executive headteacher at the school, expressed her pride at the pupils.

“I am very proud of our students for raising the money for such an important piece of equipment,” she added.

LifeStyle Fitness, a partner of the school and charity London Hearts, bolstered the students’ efforts through match funding.

Dr Wilson thanked the sponsors and said: “We are also very lucky to have received match funding from our partners LifeStyle Fitness and London Hearts.

“We hope that we don’t have to use the defibrillator but it’s a potential lifesaver for all of our community.”

Over 30 community groups use the school’s facilities, so this addition benefits locals just as much as the school.
