Schools minister visits Hungerford to answer questions
Mr Laws was in town to discuss many issues including the pupil premium and effective ways to narrow the attainment gap.
Speaking to The Newbury Weekly News, Mr Laws said: “Nobody likes by implication to be criticised and I wanted to come to West Berkshire with a message that there is huge potential to do much better.
“It was a good and thoughtful reaction from the headteachers and the local authority here is trying to make a bigger effort to make closing the attainment gap a priority.”
West Berkshire Council Leader Gordon Lundie said: “I am delighted that the Minister has been able to visit one of our schools and see for himself the progress that is being made.
